Experience Works, a non-profit organization which specializes in helping seniors train for and find new jobs, has launched its annual search for "America's Oldest Worker."

To be considered for the honor, applicants must work a minimum of 20 hours a week in paid employment. Applicants or the person nominating them must submit an application by June 2. The worker with the earliest birth date who meets the criteria will be honored as America's Oldest Worker.

"The Experience Works Prime Time Awards is a year-long effort to honor mature workers as outstanding role models for a nation whose workforce is rapidly aging and whose businesses are facing a shortage of skilled, reliable employees," Experience Works president Andrea J. Wooten said. "Older workers exemplify the positive work ethic, experience, loyalty, and dependability necessary for the long-term health and vitality of our nation, and they are the fastest growing population in the United States."

For a nomination form, go to the organization's Web site at www.experienceworks.org.

To receive a nomination form by mail, send a post card or note to Prime Time Awards, Experience Works, 2200 Clarendon Blvd. Suite 1000, Arlington, VA 22201, or call toll free, 1-800-901-7965. Workers may enter themselves or can be nominated by an employer, family, or friends.

The winner of the 2003 title will be announced in Washington, D.C, in late September. Fifty-two other outstanding older workers from every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and top employers of senior workers also will be recognized at the awards ceremony.

Dr. Ray H. Crist, a 102-year-old professor of environmental science at Messiah College, was named the 2002 America's Oldest Worker. Crist is believed to be the oldest, full-time working chemist in the country.

All of the past America's Oldest Worker award winners have been over 100 years old and working almost full-time at their professions. They include a 100-year-old architect, a 102-year-old mechanical engineer, a 100-year-old doctor and a 102-year-old manufacturer."
