Parade Remembers Veterans' Sacrifices

Left: A color guard marches in the Memorial Day parade around the Capitol on May 31. The theme for this year’s parade was “Some Sacrificed … Some Sacrificed All."

Below: Harvey Wilson, left, a Marine who served in the Vietnam War, is thanked for his service by a spectator. Also representing the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 385 is Fre Khang Y, right, a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army.

Bottom: The parade, sponsored by the Veterans Affiliated Council of Sacramento and Vicinity, also included fire engines, local veterans’ groups, elected officials, car clubs, youth groups and a marching band.
