Fourth Annual Centenarian Dinner Honors Residents More than 100 Years Old

Spectrum Staff

Take a Stand Against Elder Abuse (TSAEA) is looking for Sacramento residents 100-years-old or older to honor at the annual centenarian dinner in June of this year. This community event is sponsored by TSAEA, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) public benefit corporation and the Sacramento County Senior and Adult Services Division of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Honorees must be residents of Sacramento or the surrounding counties and have reached the age of 100 by June 8, 2006. The dinner is free for the centenarian and one guest. Centenarians will be interviewed for their life history between February and April 2006 by CSUS Gerontology Students who have passed a background check.

A summary of the centenarians’ biographies and their pictures will be placed in the dinner program. Centenarians will also be given a professional video tape containing pictures of all the centenarians, and they will receive resolutions honoring them from the County Board of Supervisors and the California State Senate.

Proceeds from the dinner ticket sales will fund elder-protection programs. If you are a candidate or know one who should be honored, call Rosalind Garner at (916) 874-9245 or e-mail at garnerr@saccounty.net.
