Candidate: D. (Logan Darrow) Clements
Ballot Designation: Businessman
Party: Republican

1. What do you consider the most pressing issue facing California’s senior citizens?
High taxes.

2. Do you favor or oppose amending the rates of the following taxes:
Property tax: abolish this tax
State income tax: abolish this tax
Vehicle license fee: abolish this tax
Gas tax: abolish this tax

3. Do you favor or oppose putting new restrictions on older drivers?
No restrictions by age only if they lack safe driving ability. Older drivers should have yearly tests administered by their insurance company. My grandfather drove safely into his 90's.

4. When putting together the state budget for the next fiscal year, would you change current levels of funding for any of the following programs:
In exchange for lower taxes all welfare programs would be transferred to private charities which will do a better job. This is my answer for all the below questions. However, older citizens should be able to get out the money they put into each system as we phase them out.
In-Home Supportive Services:
Adult Protective Services
SSI/SSP benefits
Foster Grandparents Program
Brown Bag Program
Senior Companion Program
California Commission on Aging

5. If elected, how will you improve California for seniors and all other residents?
I will lower taxes and focus the government on doing what it should be doing: stopping crime not picking our pockets or taking away our freedom.
